Pottery Night Class (10 weeks)

Service Description
Ten Week Pottery Course: Inspired by the creativity and passion of the Great Pottery Throw Down? Join our resident potters for a ten-week course designed for both beginners and improvers. With at least two tutors facilitating each evening, you’ll receive plenty of guidance and support as you develop your skills. Course Overview The course runs on Wednesday evenings from September to mid-November, offering 12 dates to complete the 10-week programme. This flexible schedule allows for holidays, sick days, or other commitments without missing out. Week 1: Seize the Clay Begin with an introduction to clay and the ceramic process. After a short induction, you’ll prepare clay for your first throwing or hand-building session and explore some basic techniques. Weeks 2–10: Building Skills Over the following weeks, you’ll focus on: Wheel throwing basics: centring clay, pulling up walls, shaping, and turning items Hand-building techniques: slab building, drape moulds, and attaching handles Surface decoration: using tools, textures, and coloured slips to personalize your creations Creativity and experimentation are encouraged throughout, helping you design unique, personal pieces. Facilities The course takes place in our cosy pottery at 24 Main Street, Crawfordsburn. You’ll have access to two workshop rooms equipped with: 6 tabletop wheels 2 sit-down wheels 2 workbenches A slab roller and extruder All your works-in-progress will be safely stored on site for the duration of the course. You can pay for your class by debit or credit card online using Stripe. Changes to your booking - Each time a change is made to your Pottery Event Booking we charge an administration fee of £5 per person. You should pay this in advance via payment link which will be sent to your booking email address. If you have any questions go to https://www.loafcatering.com/events-faqs All classes and events must be paid for in full at the time of booking to secure your place. Please make us aware of any special requirements or requests at the time of booking by emailing pottery@loafcatering.com. We will do our best to accommodate your request, however please be aware that this may not always be possible.
