Job description

Loaf Catering is a social enterprise delivering outside catering for events across Greater Belfast. Our flagship building Loaf Café on the Grosvenor Road is home to our food preparation and production unit for all outside catering and supply to our other sites; The Bobbin Café in Belfast City Hall, Loaf Pottery in Crawfordsburn and our newest addition the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. All our profits support people with learning difficulties and autism into jobs with a future.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will have the ability to produce high quality home made food whilst leading the food production team in a fast paced, high volume catering environment. All roles within Loaf Catering support training and employment opportunities for local people with learning difficulties.

Requirements

Essential

1. Ability to be flexible and adaptable and to work evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rota basis as required.

2. Ability to work on own initiative and without direction.

3. A can-do attitude and able to work in a team.

4. Hard working with a willingness to learn.

5. NVQ Level 2 Catering and Hospitality or equivalent eg City and Guilds.

6. Essential Food Hygiene Certificate.

7. Sound knowledge of Health and safety Procedures including COSHH and HACCP.


Desirable

1. Bakery or Patisserie qualification.

2. A1 / A2 Assessor Award or prepared to work towards same.

3. Intermediate food Hygiene Certificate or willing to work towards same.

4. Experience of working with adults with a learning disability.

5. Sound knowledge and experience of catering for customers with different dietary requirements.

We're a social enterprise based in Belfast but working across Northern Ireland to support people with learning difficulties and autism into jobs with a future. Loaf Catering is our catering business which delivers outside catering to businesses, functions etc. We run six cafes four are in Belfast - The Bobbin in City Hall, Loaf on Grosvenor Road and the cafes at Ulster Museum and the Folk at Transport Museum at Cultra.

We also have a cafe at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. Loaf Pottery our sixth site is our pottery, pizzeria and coffee shop in Crawfordsburn where we offer wood fired pizzas and our range of beautiful handthrown pottery.

For every £1 invested in NOW Group 2019/20 we generated £20 in social value.
